Mantua Swim and Tennis Club offers only one type of membership for purchase – a Full Membership. The Club maintains 600 Full Memberships. Only homeowners in the greater Mantua area (as depicted on Boundary Map) can purchase Full Memberships. Full membership is offered on a rolling basis – as Full Members request to sell their membership, that “share or bond” is offered to the next individual or family on the waitlist who is eligible to purchase the membership. Families typically remain on the waitlist an estimated 4 to 5 years before being offered a Full Membership. Full Members may choose to “rent” their membership for the year. When those memberships are available, the Club grants summer use privileges (referred to as a Rental Membership) to 1) individuals or families who are waiting to purchase a full membership or 2) home renters/tenants who are ineligible to purchase a full membership. Further details provided below.
The Membership Chair accepts applicants throughout the year for the waitlist to purchase a Full Membership. Anyone interested in purchasing a membership should email the Membership Chairperson at firstname.lastname@example.org to apply. The Membership Chairperson will provide a web form application. Complete the form and press ‘submit.’ The forms are date and time stamped, and the Membership Chair will contact people in the order of application submission to inform them if they will be able to purchase a membership. Applicants do not need to reapply at any time in the future as their place on the waiting list remains until they are offered a Full Membership. Applicants who are offered a Full Membership to purchase are no longer eligible for Rental Memberships. Please note that memberships are only available to individuals or families who reside in the greater Mantua area (as depicted on Boundary Map).
When a Full Memberships becomes available, the Membership Chair will offer it to the next individual/family homeowner (not renter) on the waiting list. Remember, a person’s position on the waitlist is the date/time stamp of their application. The individual/family has 10 days to accept the membership and pay the one-time administration fee and bond/share amount specified below (the Rental Membership dues are applied in full towards the Full Membership dues if the offer is extended after the summer dues are paid). If the individual/family turns down the offer or does not respond with 10 days, they will be removed from the waiting list to purchase a Full Membership and their summer use privileges will be immediately terminated. They will be unable to rent a membership at any time once a Full Membership is turned down. Any individual/family who turns down an offer of Full Membership may go on the waiting list again, but they go to the bottom of the list and are ineligible to rent. An individual/family who turns down an offer of Full Membership for a second time shall be ineligible to apply for any further memberships in the club.
The cost of a full membership includes: a $100 one-time transfer/administration fee (not refundable when the membership is sold), a $1,400 one-time bond/share purchase (refunded when the membership is sold), and annual dues described below. Full members retain their membership until they decide to sell. Full members are permitted to vote at all annual and special meetings and can participate in the club’s activities and rent the clubhouse year round.
Current Full Members will receive their dues notice in late February, reminders to pay by March 15, and an email confirmation that payment was made. Dues must be paid by March 31. If Full Members have not paid their dues by March 31, a $200 late fee will be added to their annual dues. Further, the MSTC Board will notify them of the Board’s intent to sell the membership if they do not respond and pay their annual dues plus late fees within 30 days. Payment can be made by either check (mailed to the below address or placed in the black mailbox at the clubhouse [located left of the front door]) or credit card. A 4% convenience fee will be added to the total price if you pay by credit card.
The Cost of Full Membership

Each year, Full Members have the option to either 1) renew their dues to have access to the Club’s facilities for the year or 2) rent out their membership and forfeit all privileges and access to the Club’s facilities for the year. For 2019, the annual renewal dues are $525. Full Members who wish to rent their membership will be charged $175. Payments are non-refundable and must be paid no later than March 31 every year. Late fees of $200 will be charged for payments received April 1 and after.
Please note that the membership “family” includes all members residing in the household, including spouses, parents, minor children, grandparents living in the household, and employees who reside with the member (such as an au pair or nanny).
Rental Memberships may become available if a Full Member decides to rent out their membership for that year. When available, MSTC offers Rental Memberships to 1) individuals/families who are waiting to purchase a full membership or 2) home renters/tenants who are ineligible to purchase a full membership. Individuals/families with Rental Memberships are welcome to participate in all teams and programs; they may not, however, vote or participate in annual or special membership meetings. Rental Memberships generally become available in late March/early April.
Rental Membership Process
For 2020, the rental membership process has changed. Rental memberships will be offered through our eSoft Membership Management System beginning on May 1, 2020 at 7:00pm on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. We will no longer maintain a rental waitlist. If you do not have an eSoft account, please contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain an account. We also highly recommend that you log into your email account before May 1st to ensure your login and password are working. Potential renters must log into their eSoft account and select and pay for a Rental Membership. If you elect to pay by check, checks must be received by May 15 or your membership will be deleted and you will not to re-register. Checks may be mailed or dropped off at the MSTC Clubhouse mailbox located to the left of the front door.
Limited Rental Memberships
We have limited rental memberships. When we run out of rental memberships, we will turn off in eSoft the ability to register for a Rental Membership. If we have more people register for Rental Memberships than available, we will refund the full amount of the last people to register (each registration is time stamped). For example, if we have 100 rental memberships available and 102 registered through eSoft, we will refund registrations 101 and 102. It is very important that you register AND PAY by May 15 or your registration will be deleted and you will need to re-register. Re-registering would update your date/time stamp and place you toward the bottom of the list.
For 2020, Rental Memberships will cost $700. You can either pay by credit card (with a 4% convenience fee added to the total or by check. If you elect to pay by check, checks must be received by May 15 or your membership will be deleted and you will not to re-register. Checks may be mailed or dropped off at the MSTC Clubhouse mailbox located to the left of the front door.
Partial Rental Memberships
Partial Rental Memberships may become available July 15th if any Rental Memberships are not being used. (e.g., if a rental member permanently moves out of the neighborhood during the summer). For 2020, Partial Rental Memberships will cost $350. Rental and Partial Rental Memberships cannot be prorated and there are no refunds for either type.
