Junior Tennis Point System

Mantua Book of Records Point Competition Begins June 1
The purpose of the program is to encourage our team to play and practice tennis in their spare time. It has been proven that the more tennis one plays the better their game becomes. The junior staff will be responsible for taking roll and will award 5 points per day for each practice attended. All other points are the responsibility of each player to turn in on a weekly basis. Unless a player has been on vacation points will not be accepted that are older than 2 weeks.

Points will be totaled up after the last week of practice and prizes will be selected from our "prize table" at the team banquet the end of July. The person with the highest number of points chooses first and we proceed down the list until all prizes are given out. Last year several new racquets, racquet bags, T-shirts, and many tennis-related items appeared on the table. You must be present at the banquet to select your prize or notify Matt in writing ahead of time if you will be out of town authorizing a friend to select a prize for you.

Point Values
Practice 5 pts/day (tennis staff will take roll and turn these points in)
Ladder challenge match (no points for forfeits) 10 points for each player / one per day
Serving 100 balls 3 points (limit of 3 points per day)
Match play per hour 5 points
Tennis camp or private lesson
(season limit of two weeks or 10 lessons)
5 points per day
Interclub matches open to all team members 10 points per event
USTA sanctioned tournament 30 points for the tournament
Mantua Jr. tournament 30 points for the tournament
Hitting tennis balls with parent or adult
(including lessons)
2 points per half hour
Hitting tennis balls against backboard 2 points per half hour

We do not give points for playing in the Tyson's Cup matches because we want all players to have an equal chance at earning the same number of points. Also, please note that while a challenge match forfeit will result in a ladder move, it will not count for points since no tennis was played.

There will be a collection box on the table at the tennis gazebo. The forms are available by clicking the link below and must be filled out completely and legibly with the following information: Full name, age group, breakdown of points, date earned, and signed by an adult verifier.
