General Membership Meeting RESCHEDULED to 3/11
| |
Due to the recent record snowfall and the potential for more snow in the next couple of days, this year’s general membership meeting, originally scheduled for this Thursday, has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 11th at 7:30 p.m. We regret having to change the date but do so in the interest of our members’ safety.

President's Message
| |
The Board and I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you the very best for 2010. This year’s general membership meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Thursday, March 11th at 7:30 p.m.
This past season was a very successful one. The swim and dive teams enjoyed a summer chock full of competitiveness and camaraderie. Together, our junior and adult tennis teams placed second overall in the Tysons Cup league! And, our members enjoyed many fun times at the “Mantua Summer Concert Series” events, Friday evening tennis socials, raft nights, “Burn your Thumb” evenings, and other social events. We also saw MS&TC go “green” with our new recycling program. I thank all of our members and guests for “pitching in” and look forward to continuing the “green” program next season. I extend my sincere thanks to the volunteers who made our swim, dive, tennis and social programs possible and encourage all of our members to participate in and volunteer to assist with our wonderful programs and events this coming season.
Many improvements were made to the club including some that were not so “visible” such as new pumps, filtration systems, safety devices, security lighting, and alarm systems. The expenses for these improvements as well as the day to day costs of operating a facility as large and well used as our club are reflected in the 2009 actual numbers in this year’s proposed operating budget. There are many high dollar line items that we need to carry. Maintaining a balanced budget is not an easy task. It is with this in mind that I encourage you to attend this year’s general membership meeting where the main agenda item will be the consideration of raising the cap on membership dues. We all are feeling the effects of the present economic situation both at home and in our businesses. The operation of the Club is no different and for any business to be successful there needs to be sufficient income to meet its expenses.
Our membership does remain strong. However, it is limited in number by the parameters of our “special use permit.” Unlike many pools in our area, we are fortunate to have many on our waiting list to buy. If you are considering selling your membership, this continues to be a great time to do so as we have so many young families wanting to buy. Please note that a dues notice will be sent to each member in March 2010 and annual dues will be payable by May 1, 2010. Once again the Board and I wish you the very best for 2010 and hope to see you at our March Meeting.
Sincerely, Jay Krafft, President
