President's Message
| |
Here we are fast approaching the end of another pool season. This summer has proven to be a “Hot Time in Mantua”. Having a pool in our neighborhood has been a welcome relief! It will sad to bid the “Summer of 2010” farewell. But wait, not so fast, hold back those tears. I am happy to announce that we will be extending this year’s pool season until Sunday the 12th of September. The extended pool hours will be Tuesday through Thursday 3pm to 8pm, Friday 3pm to 9pm, Saturday 12 noon to 9pm and Sunday 12 noon to 8pm. Please take advantage of this and enjoy the summer a little longer.
We had to bid farewell to a good friend of the pool at the end of July. Jenn Toye, our manager for the last two years, relocated to Florida to accept a new job. She will be sorely missed and she loved “Mantua” as much as we loved her. Ashley, our assistant manager, has taken over her duties and is doing a great job. Please take a moment to say hello to her and thank her for all her hard work.
I would like to address the issue of pool closures. As we have both a Swim and Dive Team, there are times when the pool will be closed for competitive meets and functions outside the norm. Whenever possible the upper pool will be open to members for “free swim”. Please accept my most sincere apologies for any inconvenience these closures have caused you and your families. The Board will work hard over the off-season to come up with additional methods to communicate these closings to supplement the current practice of posting closure information on the website's home page and on signs at the pool's entrance desk.
In closing, please remember that the Board is comprised of volunteers and we try to “do our best.” Many of us on the Board have been performing our responsibilities for quite a while and feel that it is time to bring in some new “blood” to take over. Should any of you, our members, be interested in stepping up to take a Board position, please contact me directly. Have a great rest of the summer and I hope to see you at the annual end of season Labor Day BBQ and Bluegrass Event (see below).
Sincerely, Jay Krafft, President
